Desktop Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client in Canelands, KZN is looking for an allrounder Desktop Support Engineer to support their infrastructure environment in terms of (e.g. servers, networks, storage devices, backup devices, appliances, printers, laptops and desktops) and associated operating systems / software packages.

POSITION INFO:

• Resolution of IT issues reported by staff  including Desktop, LAN and WAN issues
• Management of necessary repairs / warranty replacements etc. to ensure a serviceable fleet of IT Site infrastructure
• Workstation and server preparation and maintenance including imaging, patching, installation and configuration
• Ensure effective operation of all distributed Infrastructure equipment in line with  IT policies and procedures
• Ensure Service Level Targets are met, and where they are not appropriate corrective action is undertaken.
• Liaise with IT Sites Co-ordinator regarding potential process improvements, issues or difficult situations.
• Working closely with relevant global IT functions to provide technical support that meets the needs of  Business Units, aligned with pre-approved site setups
• Installs and maintains networked and stand alone corporate computing and telecommunication hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve various forms of PC, printing, scanning and telephony related problems.
• Respond to needs and questions of users concerning their access of network resources.
• Respond to client enquiries concerning systems operation and diagnose systems hardware, software and operator problems.
• Provide updates, status and completion information to IT Sites Co-ordinator
• Assist in documenting IT Support Services processes and procedures for on-site IT Operations.
• Assists in resolving complex tasks and ad-hoc projects. 
• Takes responsibility for the safekeeping and storage of  IT Assets
