Desktop Publisher
One of our clients based in Sandton, Gauteng is seeking a skilled and experienced Desktop Publisher to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented individual who can produce high-quality, print-ready and digital materials within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the layout, formatting, and preparation of various documents while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to brand standards across all outputs. The role requires close collaboration with marketing and design teams to deliver visually engaging materials such as brochures, manuals, catalogues, and newsletters, all within strict deadlines and production requirements.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Journalism, or a related field will be advantageous. Proven experience as a Desktop Publisher or in a similar role. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Good understanding of typography, layout principles, and colour theory. Solid knowledge of print production and prepress processes. Experience within Litho and Digital Printing environments. Understanding of RGB, CMYK, and Pantone colour systems. Highly skilled in PitStop software. Experience in preparing, correcting, and setting up files for print (REPRO-ready files). Layout experience in Adobe Creative Cloud will be beneficial. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Roles and Responsibilities: Design, Layout & Production Develop and format documents in line with established brand guidelines. Prepare and adjust files to ensure they are print-ready and meet production standards. Create engaging visual elements including graphics, illustrations, and images to enhance content. Ensure all materials are correctly structured for litho and digital print processes. Quality Control & Editing Proofread and edit all materials to ensure accuracy in grammar, spelling, and consistency. Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure all outputs meet corporate and production standards. Ensure colour accuracy and correct application of CMYK, RGB, and Pantone specifications. Project Coordination & Collaboration Work closely with marketing and design teams to maintain brand consistency across all materials. Manage multiple design and publishing projects simultaneously. Prioritise workload effectively to ensure all deadlines are met. Technical & Operational Duties Perform file corrections and adjustments to ensure REPRO-ready output. Stay updated with industry trends, tools, and best practices in desktop publishing. Maintain high standards of efficiency while working under pressure in a production-driven environment.
