POSITION INFO:
We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to provide technical support to users and ensure the smooth operation of desktop, hardware, software, and network-related services. The successful candidate will be required to work on a shift basis, including night shifts , and must be available to start immediately . The position is based in Boksburg and is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract . Key Responsibilities Provide first- and second-line desktop and technical support to users. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity-related issues. Provide support for Windows operating systems and standard business applications. Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues, including LAN and Wi-Fi-related problems. Perform software installations, upgrades, configurations, and updates. Assist with user account, password, and access-related issues. Log, update, monitor, and resolve incidents and service requests in accordance with agreed service levels. Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate technical teams when required. Assist with IT equipment deployments, upgrades, replacements, and maintenance. Provide technical support during planned maintenance and system upgrade activities, including after-hours and night-shift work. Maintain accurate records of incidents, equipment, and technical activities. Follow company and client IT policies, procedures, and security standards. Provide professional and customer-focused support to all users. Perform any other reasonable IT support duties as required. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 \/ Matric. IT qualification, diploma, or relevant technical certification will be advantageous. Previous experience in a Desktop Support \/ IT Support Technician role. Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop environments. Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices. Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting knowledge. Familiarity with Active Directory and user administration will be advantageous. Experience working with an IT service desk or ticketing system will be advantageous. Good understanding of IT support processes and service-level requirements. Valid driver''s licence will be advantageous.
