DevOps Engineer (Advanced)

Location: Menlyn, Hybrid model
Duration: Aug 2025 – Dec 2027 (Renewable based on performance / project availability)
Type: Contract
Citizenship: SA Citizens/Residents preferred; valid work permits accepted longer than 18 months

About the Role:
Join a global operations and automation team focused on IT Monitoring, Service Automation, and DevOps excellence. You’ll design, implement and support cloud-native observability, orchestration, and infrastructure automation for a global automotive brand.

POSITION INFO:
Essential Skills:

IT Monitoring: Open Telemetry, Grafana, Prometheus
IT Service Automation: Rundeck, Windmill, Ansible, or similar
Scripting & Dev: Python, JavaScript, Perl, Shell
DevOps/CI-CD: GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Nexus
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Terragrunt
Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure; Containers: Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS
Integration via REST APIs, message queues
Secrets Management

Bonus Points for:

Deep Infrastructure (Data Centres, Storage, Networks)
ITIL/Enterprise Architecture knowledge
Agile & enterprise consulting experience

Qualification & Experience:

IT Degree/Certification or proven equivalent experience
5+ years in DevOps, automation, or enterprise IT delivery
Experience designing & implementing scalable, automated cloud solutions

Responsibilities:

Implement Open Telemetry solutions
Build and maintain automation using Rundeck
Support feature releases, story creation, testing & documentation
Define cloud infrastructure via IaC and configuration files
Collaborate cross-functionally in Agile teams
