We are looking for application developers using MS SQL and WebDev by PC Soft (see --------Please upload your CV here-------->).

As WebDev experience is not easy to find I am open to look at various levels of experience at market related salary.

Company started in 1999 and we specialize in Commercial Short-term insurance administration software.

Based in Pretoria with clients in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Australia.

Position

We maintain and enhance existing features and develop new features to a short-term insurance administration system. Enhancements can be as easy as cosmetic changes to documentation or as difficult as a new workflow procedure to simplify an current manual task. As we operate in the financial sector a big portions of the application is calculations or financial transactions. A comfort in this environment will help the developer to get to terms with the application faster, but a knowledge of insurance is not a prerequisite.

As our development team is small, a developer completes all aspects of the task, from design to development and testing on his own (with the needed guidance from management). We start the development task with design cession, after the support staff obtained the client’s requirements. The developer will work with support staff to make the process as easy, flexible and user friendly as possible. After the developer did his own user testing the new/amended procedure is incorporated into a release for testing and then deployed to the live environment on completion.

We are in the process of changing our application from Clarion to WebDev. This means a re-write of the entire system with streamlining of procedures and flows.

A developer will need to make client visits from time to time, but is 95% office bound.

The ideal candidate is a logical thinker, who can work on his own and likes to see a development through from start to finish. Having studied actuarial will put to ahead of the pack, alternatively an exceptionally strong B.Comm background will also be an advantage.
