JOB SUMMARY:
Development Manager - Johannesburg

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Experience:

vMinimum 8 years Systems Development experience.

vMinimum 5 years relevant experience managing a software development team for large commercial entities, or demonstrated leadership capabilities.

vExposure in driving key strategic initiatives.

Education and Experience:

ØMatric.

ØBSc in Computer Sciences/ Information Systems or equivalent IT tertiary qualification.

ØApplicable Management Development courses would be advantageous.

ØApplicable Project Management experience.

Knowledge:

ØSDLC (Agile Methodology experience would be advantageous).

ØDot Net Framework on Visual Studios.

ØDevelopment Architecture designs and best practices.

Responsibility:

ØGeneral:

ØUnderstanding business requirements, business systems, process context, impact, risks.

ØParticipating in, planning/strategy sessions, reporting.

ØInterfacing to external clients, vendors where required.

ØDelivery and Support of Specific Applications:

ØManagement of activities within the overall team.

ØParticipating and enabling the business Prioritisation process.

ØScheduling and prioritisation of tasks and resources by approval by executives .

ØCoordinate: Build, Test, Deliver, Fix, Change Requests.

ØTechnical capacity, quality, and standards via an ISO standard:

ØUnderstanding business'' future requirements.

ØPreventing technical issues from arising by proactive management.

ØProduce and enable a Capacity Plan for the Application.

ØEnsuring adherence to Quality, Standards, SLA adherence, PM and SDLC standards.

ØMaking recommendations for the improvement of the SDLC, PM or ISO processes.

ØProject Management of projects:

ØActing as PM for selected development projects i.t.o. deadlines and milestones.

ØDelivering specific projects to produce internal or external capacity.

ØManagement of activities within the SDLC (Acting as process owner).

ØParticipating and enabling the business prioritisation process.

ØScheduling and prioritising tasks and resources.

ØTaking ownership of production issues and driving to resolution.

ØAdherence to Quality, Standards, SLA’s and SDLC standards.

ØTeam Management:

ØEnsures that team management exists in the team being managed.

ØDriving the skills development of team members, coaching of team members for performance, and coaching on career development.

ØRecruitment, staff training, conflict management.

ØPerformance management (objective setting, feedback, appraisals, incentives, and bonuses, addressing poor performance).
