Development Technician
Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Development Technician to contribute to the design, fabrication, and assembly of specialised components and prototype vehicles. This role involves a combination of technical skill, problem-solving, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure quality and efficiency in production.
What you will do:
- Produce custom components using steel and sheet metal
- Develop, maintain, and improve fixtures, tooling, and jigs
- Support the full build process of prototype vehicles
- Share knowledge with production staff by demonstrating correct jig and fixture usage
- Partner with design and engineering teams to optimise manufacturing methods
- Uphold high standards of safety and housekeeping in the workshop
- Be prepared to complete a practical assessment of technical ability
What you’ll need:
- Matric or equivalent qualification (further technical training an advantage)
- Skilled in operating milling machines and lathes
- Confident in the use of measuring instruments and tools
- Proficiency in both MIG and TIG welding
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into practical builds
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Added advantages:
- Previous experience in aluminium welding
- Problem-solving and fault analysis ability
