Divisional Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client is a national manufacturing subsidiary of a prominent JSE-listed corporate entity, seeks a qualified Chartered Accountant to consolidate and report divisional financial information accurately and timeously and provide insights into financial information for the Executive team.

POSITION INFO:
The Person:

• B.Com Honours in Accounting.
• Chartered Accountant (SA).
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Finance / Accounting role.

• Financial Management Systems:
  • Manage accounting systems and access control.
  • Manage period access and exchange rates and period access for sales, budget and forecast data.
  • Manage annual calendar on all reporting systems.
  • Provide management and technical support to business units.
  • Perform monthly internal control review to confirm interface between reporting systems.
• General Financial:
  • Provide financial analysis and support to management and all operational areas.
• Internal Control:
  • Review, manage and implement identified internal controls.
  • Monthly review of internal controls and exception reports and updates on progress.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations on a rotational basis.
• Budget / Forecast:
  • Update and circulate budget parameters and timelines annually.
  • Co-ordinate and consolidate all budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform reasonability review on submitted budgets (sales and financial) and resolve inconsistencies before Senior Management review.
  • Reconcile budgets across multiple reporting platforms.
  • Reconcile detailed sales budget to the financial budget.
  • Review all forecasts.
• Financial Reporting & Monthly Reporting:
  • Prepare schedules and reports and co-ordinate the submission of all inputs for the monthly financial pack.
  • Prepare the consolidated results in the financial pack.
  • Prepare the industry sales and vehicle build presentation for divisional meeting.
• Weekly Sales and Profit Forecast Report:
  • Review and submit weekly sales and profit forecast reports and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Consolidate the divisions flash results.
• Audits and Year-End Processes:
  • Assist with preparing, rolling out and planning year-end statutory audit in line with the consolidated audit plan.
  • Prepare and review the year-end audit and tax pack.
  • Conduct a final review, consolidation and submit results to holding company.
  • Assist in co-ordinating all holding company requests and queries on year-end results.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation, review and sign off of all statutory financial statements.
  • Co-ordinate and review the bi-annual provisional tax submissions.
  • Review the final tax pack inline with the signed AFS.
  • Co-ordinate the resolution of tax queries and final submission on e-Filing.
• Build and Vehicle Sales:
  • Upload final vehicle build numbers, as well as monthly vehicle sales stats.
  • Prepare adhoc requests vehicle sales.
  • Assist with compilation of the monthly vehicle build stats, as well as with the forecast of vehicle build stats.
• Capital Spend:
  • Review capital spend.
  • Manage the Capex register and authorisation of all divisional Capex forms and compare to monthly reported Capex.
  • Review Capital WIP monthly and resolve inconsistencies.
• Statutory Returns:
  • Complete monthly VAT and PAYE status checks and provide report of issues to management.
• Other Reporting - Prepare:
  • Monthly timelines for all finance deliverables and manage BUs deliverables.
  • Quarterly timelines for all deliverables for the Board and Audit Committee.
  • Monthly management reports for review of results.
  • Scheduled returns for external users, including StatsSA.
  • Quarterly Board reports.
  • Quarterly operational report ratios for the COO reports.
  • Bi-annual financial audit committee reports.
• Insurance:
  • Prepare the finance-related information used in the annual insurance declaration process.
  • Manage the claims process with the BU’s.
  • Review the final insurance premium for reasonable and prepare allocation to each BU.
  • Support business admin function with insurance declaration process as required.
• Banking:
  • Consolidate daily cashflow, analyse differences and submit to Head Office.
  • Consolidate weekly cash forecasts for division with explanations for differences and present to senior management.
  • Assist as second payment release for areas of responsibility on the banking system.
• General:
  • Comply with IFRS, including keeping up to date with changes to finance related industry requirements.
  • Prepare financial presentations on an adhoc request basis from Divisional Financial Director/Manager.
  • Provide technical support/opinion on an adhoc request basis.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Benchmark Finance systems and processes against best practices and identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Be involved in the implementation and testing of improvements.
  • Assist in the effective roll-out and training of improvements to the BUs.
