We invite applications from candidates for the 2 year fixed-term contract position as a Driver for J52 Groote Schuur in Observatory and Philippi Village. The main purpose of this position is to ensure the secure transportation of goods, staff, patients and community members to and from the required destination as well as assist with general duties.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Valid South African code 10 driver’s and PDP license
- At least 2 -3 years’ experience as a driver of commercial passenger vans or equivalent
- Candidate living in Philippi Village and surroundings
- Basic computer literacy – (MS Word and Email)
- Good communication skills (English and isiXhosa)
- Knowledge of Cape Town, its surrounding areas with an ability to read maps efficiently and work with Google Maps
- Knowledge of requirements and standards related to the safe and efficient operation of light commercial vehicles
- Knowledge of national and local traffic laws and regulations
- Working knowledge on routine maintenance of vehicles
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions
- Able to manage time and effectively prioritise work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work closely with community members
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to work overtime / irregular hours, including weekends
- Diligent attention to safety
- Maintain strict client confidentiality
- No traffic violations or offences
Advantageous:
- Dangerous good certificate
- Possess a sound knowledge of geographical area
- Advanced Driving course
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or GCP Certificate
Responsibilities:
- Transportation of Goods, Staff, Patients, Community members
- Maintenance of Vehicle, including cleanliness
- Check and report faults to ensure roadworthiness
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as checking oil, water, tyres, fuel, lighting and notify Facilities Manager of maintenance issues and services due
- Follow organisational instructions, procedures, and standards for the efficient & safe operation of the vehicle, as well as for the care and safety of passengers
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Assist with General Work
