This role is ideally suited to a hands-on, technically strong individual with extensive petrochemical industry exposure, who is capable of supporting operations and managing projects within fuel depots, refinery environments, and hazardous-area installations. This is a career growth position with clear succession into a full Operations \/ Project Management role. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of EPCM projects within petrochemical environments Support operations and project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and specifications are met Hands-on involvement in installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding of E&I systems Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design layouts Provide technical leadership and on-site support to installation teams and contractors Ensure all systems and installations comply with safety standards, hazardous area requirements, and industry regulations Work across multiple systems including PLC, SCADA, MCC, fire & gas detection, tank gauging, and hydrocarbon detection systems Support documentation, reporting, and governance requirements across projects Engage with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure professional project delivery Assist in continuous improvement of technical processes, service delivery, and operational efficiency Exposure to explosion-proof (Ex) environments and compliance standards EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: N6 Certificate \/ National Diploma \/ Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) Trade Tested Electrician (essential) Membership of professional bodies (e.g. MIE) advantageous Minimum 10 years' experience in Electrical & Instrumentation within petrochemical \/ fuel storage \/ refinery environments Strong hands-on experience with installations, commissioning, and testing (not purely design-based role) Proven experience working on EPCM projects and site-based industrial installations Exposure to systems such as: PLC \/ HMI \/ SCADA Systems Motor Control Centres (MCC) Emergency Shutdown Systems Tank Gauging & AOPS Fire & Gas Detection Systems Hydrocarbon Detection Systems Medium Voltage Switchgear & Transformers UPS, Generators, and Backup Power Systems Experience within fuel depots, petrochemical plants, or similar environments (advantageous exposure to major industry players) Strong problem-solving, fault-finding, and troubleshooting abilities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to take ownership, work independently, and operate in high-responsibility environments Willingness to travel to sites and work between office and project environments Traceable & contactable references Local residency or relocation required Submit CV (Word \/ PDF) to therecruitmentguy @ outlook .com, Ref # (TRG 2482) #TheRecruitmentGuy #E&Iengineer #E&Itechnician #AssistantOperations #Project Manager #Johannesburg #ElectricalEngineer #Instrumentation #EandI #ProjectManagement #Petrochemical #EPCM #SCADA #PLC #EngineeringJobs #GautengJobs #IndustrialProjects #HazardousAreas #EnergySector APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Only applications from suitably experienced candidates who meet the requirements of this vacancy will be considered.
