Earthmoving Heavy Duty Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic/Technician
Pietermaritzburg KZN
Maintenance of Vehicles and Equipment:

• Maintenance of heavy duty equipment (John Deere, Bell, Bell, Hitachi, Ponsi, John Deere not tractors but excavators, forestry equipment, heavy duty tippers etc)
• Ensure service levels are adhered to as per factory specifications
• Perform repairs (mechanical or otherwise) as required and instructed
• Weld, repair all materials and equipment
• Responsible for periodic checks on machinery. 
• Assist in training of machine operators and drivers
• Complete job cards / accurate record keeping
• Ensure that the workshops operations are safety compliant
• Ensure cost effective repairs and services are carried out
• Stay abreast with new legislation and manufacturers specifications and upgrades by attending training.
• Trade Test essential
• 4-5 years post trade experience
• Traceable references
• Drivers License essential
