Lexdan Select is assisting an Mining Buisness with their search for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Manager, based in Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Manager to lead and manage the design, development, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems within an industrial environment.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for technical excellence, team leadership, project delivery, safety compliance, and continuous improvement, while contributing to strategic and financial objectives of the business.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design, development, and approval of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including power distribution, motor control, PLC, SCADA, and DCS solutions
Manage and mentor E&I engineers, technicians, and electricians, ensuring high technical standards, performance management, and skills development
Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and performance validation of E&I systems in industrial and OEM environments
Ensure full compliance with electrical standards, safety regulations, and quality systems (IEC, NEC, ISO, risk assessments, audits)
Provide senior technical expertise and troubleshooting, including root cause analysis for complex electrical, instrumentation, and automation issues
Plan and manage E&I projects, budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
Drive system reliability, continuous improvement, and innovation through automation, predictive maintenance, and bestâpractice engineering
Act as the technical and departmental interface with executive leadership, clients, suppliers, and crossâfunctional teams

Key Requirements
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Required)
ECSA Professional Registration (Pr. Eng / Pr. Tech Eng) highly desirable
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Advantageous)

Experience

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering
At least 3 years in a management or senior leadership role
Proven experience managing complex industrial or OEM projects
Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and manage performance
