JOB SUMMARY:
My client in Durban is seeking a Technical Manager with a degree in electronics or computer science to oversee all technical aspects of contract / design for manufacturing (DFM) production.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum and Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Computer Science engineering required.
  • At least 10 years of related experience required.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills are critical
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills at a technical and professional level
Responsibilities:
  • Management of all Process Engineering activities within the production environment, this includes overseeing that all production processes are functioning.
  • Designing and evaluation new production processes, Introducing new and innovation production methods and equipment.
  • Overseeing the entire technical team and ensuring that they are fulfilling their duties with respect to management of AOI, development of SOP’s and works instructions, and providing general technical assistance
  • Creating and defining production process requirements with respect to Labour requirements and ensuring production is capable is meeting this whilst also ensuring this is kept as cost effective as possible
  • Designing manufacturing processes that take into considerations the output and quality requirements
  • Reviewing customer data packs and products and identifying any issues up front that could lead to confusion, mistakes, or general uncertainty
  • Providing technical support to the company and its various departments
  • Develop and manage all product and process costings
  • Implement and responsible for all technical standards
  • DFM analysis of all products and working liaison with customers regarding DFM requirements to minimize production defects
  • Defining stencil requirements for new products and liaising and ordering from stencil manufacturers (i.e., apertures reductions etc.)
  • Overseeing PCB’s requirements of new productions and establishing any specific customer requirements
  • Assessing all equipment requirements and creating a technology roadmap for the company and recommend equipment and processes based on the cost and ROI
  • Evaluating and assisting production, configuration and purchasing with queries related to components, such as relevance, appropriateness, and correctness
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers on any technical issues or queries to allow the config, commercial and production areas of our business to continue with little interruption
  • Supporting role to all Business Development activities
  • Creation and designing of all Jigs & fixtures required and working with the relevant suppliers to quote, manufacture and supply
  • Management of process team to investigate and root cause corrective actions
  • Ensure effective succession planning for technical staff and production support
  • Run and manage technical review meetings for new products
  • Justify and request suitable training material or courses where required for any staff
  • Control and report on all prototype and pre-production builds
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Quality Management System
  • Motivate, engage, guide, and encourage team for continuous improvement and retention of key personnel
  • Provide yearly capex and maintenance budgets
  • Ensure all equipment that requires calibration is calibrated on time
  • Maintain Altegra Guage manager calibration software
  • Managing and leading any new projects
