Electronics Technologists

SUMMARY:
• To manage a team and to provide Quality Services to Operations with respect to Process Technology, Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Systems Engineering as to entrench and uphold the AEL quality system within dedicated areas in compliance to the ISO 9001 framework

POSITION INFO:

• Lead and monitor that all section activities are carried out in accordance with the OHS ACT, Explosive Act, Company Regulations and Company Standards and Requirements.

• Handling of Internal / External customer complaints and analysis of non- conforming raw materials, plant failures and customer complains samples.

• Optimising productivity through improvements of systems and work methods.

• Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.

• Monitor quality performance of process plants, analyze operating data to identify opportunities, develop action plans, and implement process improvements.

• Create awareness on Quality support processes, procedures, standards and tools to various internal stakeholders.

• Ensure production traceability data is accessible and fit for purpose in the event of product recalls and customer complaints.

• Integrate internal and external service groups, Engineering, Quality, Training, Technical, and Procurement, to enhance the smooth running of the plants.

• Promote and lead Good Manufacturing Practice in the Plants.

• Investigates and troubleshoots plant/process problems and performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

• Technical report writing.

• Work with plants and sections to improve the compliance to ISO 9001 and the Quality Management Systems.

• • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.

  • B.Eng. Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Equivalent/Relevant tertiary qualifications.

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience is required (preferably electronic and explosive product and component manufacturing.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar manufacturing philosophies.

  • Knowledge of Electronics Process will be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of all legal and safety requirements, e.g. Explosives Act, OHS Act, and Factory / Departmental Regulations.

  • Knowledge of good explosive practices is necessary.

  ·         Understanding of the quality management system and ISO 9001.

  • Knowledge of electronics components.
