Position: Engineer Drill & Blast (2-year Fixed Term Contract)
Department: Lift II Underground – Horizontal Development/UC & Drawbells

In order to meet Long-hole drill and blast demands of establishing a block cave mine, The company is seeking an experienced, safety conscious and commercially focused blasting engineer.
The role will provide a specialist service in designing and directing the drill and blast processes for
the Undercutting and Drawbells development on Lift II project.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Ring drilling, timing and blasting performance modelling, in-situ performance assessment and
adjustment according to local and global cave and tunnel conditions in consultation with the
Geotechnical Engineer
• Support and design the Drill & Blast patterns and strategy including the required explosives.
• Manage & report on non-conformance in drill and blast practices – QA/QC
• Performing PTOs on the drilling, charging and blasting process
• Implement and manage control systems to ensure optimized drilling, timing and blasting.
• Drill and blast cost planning as well as reconciliation, monitoring and improvement of cost
• Participating in compiling and scheduling the Strategic Business Plan for the mine
• Management of the Drill and Blast database
• Maintaining and improving safe work practices
• Defining or modifying loading requirements of blasted ore from the undercut.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Tertiary Qualification – B-Degree in Mining Engineering
• Blasting Certificate for Underground Metalliferous Mines/Mechanised mines
• Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) will be an advantage
• At least five years underground mining experience and massive mining experience
• Knowledge of long hole drilling techniques
• Working knowledge of specialist Drill and Blast design software, Aegis or similar program.
