Engineering Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Food Manufacturing industry has an opportunity available for an Engineering Manager to be based in the Western Suburbs of Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• B-Eng degree from a reputable South African University (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic)
• Government Certificate of Competency is essential  
• At least 8 years’ experience in the food manufacturing environment, including plant maintenance and project execution.
• Good computer skills in MS office packages (Excel, Projects, PowerPoint), CAD programs and maintenance management system
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong Stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work autonomously, take decisions, work under pressure and cope with the inherent physical demands of the position

• Implement, oversee, and manage the preventative maintenance system and programmes.
• Ensure equipment and machinery comply with production requirements, processes, and specifications
• Ensure equipment complies to the relevant engineering standards and legislation
• Conduct inspections to assess quality of work to enforce adherence to good manufacturing principles in line with standard operating procedures
• Responsible for compliance to building regulations, risk reduction programs and projects
• Do root cause analysis and fault finding and ensure corrective actions are in place
• Oversee and manage engineering stores with optimised inventory levels
• Ensure compliance to all legislative laws, food safety and food quality standards and systems
• Manage engineering department consisting of artisans, planners, clerks, and other personnel
• Manage capital projects in conjunction with site management and central Engineering team
• Manage maintenance budgets, capital project costs, monitor expenses (maintenance, special projects and CAPEX) to be within the budget and continually strive to save costs
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors to enable an optimised plant.
