Key Performance areas:

• Practice patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
• Be active in preparing the theatre, and replenishment of stock, consignment and instrument replenishment of the operating room allocated to for a procedure list.
• Be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient while functioning under the direct and/ or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Be responsible for assessment and care as well as the needs of patients and will be responsible for keeping the operating room sterile.
• Maintain the principals of aseptic technique when opening packs and consumables.
• Help control patient and hospital costs through the correct, safe and economical use of supplies and equipment.
• Effective risk prevention and management when assisting
• Handle equipment, instruments, stock and medication safely and competently.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
• Enrolled Nurse or Auxiliary Nurse qualification.
• Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum of 1 years experience in private heallthcare sector.
• Post-Op. Floor and Anaesthetic nursing experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient safety.
• Knowledge of Infection Control & Prevention.
• Experience in anaesthetics for this role would be an advantage.
• Problem-solving, analysis and judgement.
• Great verbal & written communication and presentation skills.
• Resilience & Customer responsiveness .
• Professional flexibility in working hours while supporting daily business hours.
