Key Performance areas:
- Practice patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
- Be active in preparing the theatre, and replenishment of stock, consignment and instrument replenishment of the operating room allocated to for a procedure list.
- Be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient while functioning under the direct and/ or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Be responsible for assessment and care as well as the needs of patients and will be responsible for keeping the operating room sterile.
- Maintain the principals of aseptic technique when opening packs and consumables.
- Help control patient and hospital costs through the correct, safe and economical use of supplies and equipment.
- Effective risk prevention and management when assisting
- Handle equipment, instruments, stock and medication safely and competently.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
- Enrolled Nurse or Auxiliary Nurse qualification.
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Minimum of 1 years experience in private heallthcare sector.
- Post-Op. Floor and Anaesthetic nursing experience is essential.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient safety.
- Knowledge of Infection Control & Prevention.
- Experience in anaesthetics for this role would be an advantage.
- Problem-solving, analysis and judgement.
- Great verbal & written communication and presentation skills.
