POSITION INFO:

This role requires a seasoned environmental professional who can develop strategy, ensure compliance, and lead environmental governance across multiple sites.
You will manage a team, oversee key environmental programs, and partner with authorities, stakeholders, and internal teams to uphold the highest standards of sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement corporate environmental strategies and action plans.
- Lead sustainable procurement initiatives for all goods and services.
- Establish and manage environmental policies, practices, and management systems.
Regulatory Compliance & Engagement
- Ensure compliance with national (DRC), UN, and international environmental regulations.
- Liaise with authorities, regulatory bodies, and public institutions.
- Coordinate environmental public hearings, consultations, and external engagements.
Environmental Operations & Monitoring
- Oversee pollution control, waste management, recycling, and conservation activities.
- Manage renewable energy integration and environmental health programs.
- Conduct environmental audits, impact assessments, and risk analysis.
- Report environmental performance to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Sustainability Leadership
- Promote environmental awareness across all organizational levels.
- Drive corporate, ethical, and social responsibility initiatives.
- Set and track sustainability targets and ensure effective delivery.
Training & Capacity Building
- Train staff at all levels on environmental responsibilities.
- Support education, research, and continuous improvement programs.
Reporting & Cost Management
- Lead the preparation of environmental reports.
Negotiate service agreements, monitor costs, and manage environmental budgets
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):
- PhD or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
- Background in ESG practices (Environmental, Social, Governance).
- Preferred academic backgrounds include:
- Bioscience
- Earth sciences
- Ecology
- Environmental engineering
- Environmental health
- Energy studies
- Sustainability-focused engineering
