SUMMARY:
Job Title: Equipment Operators (Solar Farm) – Forklifts F1/Mini Excavator Operators
Reports To: Operations Manager/Supervisor
Location: De Aar, (Preference will be given to local candidates or those residing in nearby surrounding areas)
Summary:
The Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the smooth and efficient operation of the solar farm by operating and maintaining equipment used for various tasks, including site preparation and installation of solar panels and related infrastructure.

 Qualifications:

• Matric not essential but will be an advantage.
• Prior exposure to solar farm environment will be an advantage.
• Proven experience (2 – 3 years) operating equipment in a solar farm environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Operation:

• Operate and maintain forklift and mini excavators.

• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of assigned equipment, including routine checks, lubrication, and minor repairs.

• Follow established safety protocols and procedures when operating equipment.

• Installation Support:

• Assist with the installation of solar panels, racking systems, and other infrastructure components.

• Work with other team members to ensure accurate and efficient installation processes.

• Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Participate in safety training and meetings as instructed.

• Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

• Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, maintenance, and repairs.

• Report any issues or incidents to the supervisor in a timely manner.

• Competency Certificate:

• Possess and maintain a valid competency certificate for the operation of forklifts and or mini excavators used in the solar farm.

• Proven experience (2 – 3 years) operating equipment in a solar farm environment.
• Valid competency certificate for the operation of heavy equipment used in solar farm operations.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to perform the required duties, including lifting and carrying equipment.

• Proficiency in operating equipment.
• Knowledge of solar farm operations and maintenance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
