Johannesburg

Our client, a market leader in the logistics industry is seeking to employ an Executive business Development Manager

Main duties:

• To formulate a tactical Business Development strategy and associated practice delivery plan for a sales value-chain function and influence operational implementation, contributing to client satisfaction, reduced risk and improved profitability.

• Management of Key Accounts, FMR contracts, Sales, Operational Excellence, Marketing and Promotions, and POPI Act.

Key performance areas

• Part of senior management and Exco;

• Manage the Commercial department and staff;

• Frequent reporting to management through MDS, PowerPoint and Excel;

• Implement corporate governance and compliance policies in order to manage risk liabilities (e.g. POPI Act).

• Constant communication and inter-action with Operations, Finance and other support functions.

• Contribute to the setting of budgets, minimise expenditure and manage costs and assets effectively

Sales and Client Relationship

• Key Account Management and liaison with major clients, implement and manage Service Level Agreements and conclude and manage FMR Contracts;

• Finalise and roll-out of the sales strategy, growth strategy and sales process and manage sales effort accordingly;

• Formulate a growth strategy and execute;

• Drive sales in the business through tenders, regional sales, website and lead generation.

• Manage the Sales-team through recruitment, training, coaching, mentoring, performance management; pipeline management, KPI’s, incentives and I-Reach dashboards;

• Digitalisation of sales effort, pipelines, sales activity, web site enquiries and tenders

• Develop initiatives to enhance customer service excellence,

• Analyse, report on and improve applicable client performance indicators,

• Develop and execute applicable client growth strategies in the context of a service and market strategy as well as an analysis of client intelligence,

• Facilitate the process to take on new clients or implement new services,

• Facilitate the sales process for applicable clients,

• Identify new market opportunities,

• Expanding our footprint and service offering;

• Quoting, rates calculations, rate cards, solution driven proposals to potential clients;

Marketing

• Company newsletter, marketing, and promotional gifts;

Compliance and Continous Improvement

• Establish an Operational Excellence culture in the business and embed Lean-principles throughout;

• Drive continuous improvement through OE projects;

• Implement standard operating procedures, policies and best practices;

• Implement corporate governance and compliance policies in order to manage risk liabilities (e.g. POPI Act).

Nature of position

• Strategy, Management, Sales, BD, OE and Key Account Management

Qualifications required

  • • Post Matric Qualification essential/Bachelors Degree, Honours Degree advantageous

Skills and Experience

• 8 - 10 years of experience in a similar environment, with at least 5 years operational leadership / specialist experience

• 8 Years staff management experience

• Full MS Office Suite skills and experience

• Sales/ Marketing and other relevant training

• Project Management training and/or experience

• Some OE and Lean exposure

• Above average negotiation skills

• Legal / contract writing experience would be advantageous

• A good understanding of Business Analysis methodologies

• Advanced commercial knowledge and / or skill. A sound knowledge of financials. Budgetary and financial skills.

• Above average interpersonal and communication skills

• Must be able to handle multiple projects at a given time, work under pressure and able to schedule tasks and prioritize actions 3

• SAP Experience advantageous

• Advanced business development knowledge and / or skill

• Experience in all aspects of client relationship management

• Strong understanding of client and market dynamics and requirements

• Professional in all aspects

• Positive attitude

A clear Criminal record is required for this role – as per Company guidelines.
