POSITION INFO:
As the Executive for Data Management & Analytics, you’ll be the driving force behind enterprise-wide data governance, architecture, and analytics strategy - ensuring that the business makes smarter, faster, and more compliant decisions. You’ll have full ownership of shaping a data-driven culture, aligning cross-functional teams, and establishing the frameworks that make data a true strategic asset.

This role is for a visionary leader who thrives at the intersection of business, technology, and innovation. You’ll get the autonomy to influence C-suite decisions, work with best-in-class tech (Azure Synapse, SQL, metadata and MDM platforms), and lead the charge in setting the company’s long-term data direction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of the organization's data management and analytics strategy, aligned with business priorities.
• Champion data governance, quality, and compliance to meet South African regulatory standards.
• Oversee the architecture, ingestion, and maintenance of enterprise-wide data, ensuring consistency and reliability.
• Drive analytics use cases for key support functions (Finance, Risk, HR, and Actuarial), embedding data insights into day-to-day decision-making.
• Collaborate with IT to maintain scalable and compliant data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership and performance excellence.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar (Master’s preferred).
• 8+ years in data, analytics, or tech-related roles within financial services, telecoms, or insurance.
• 3+ years in a senior leadership or enterprise data management capacity.
• Proven success in implementing large-scale data governance, analytics, and architecture strategies.
• Strong technical background in Azure Synapse, SQL, and data integration tools.
• In-depth understanding of South African data governance and regulatory compliance.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to bridge business and technology.
• Strong communication and presentation skills - confident engaging with executives.
• Ability to lead, coach, and inspire a multi-disciplinary data team.
