JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Head of Talent & Culture is expected to be a highly knowledgeable and capable HR professional who is adept at working with business partners to understand the company objectives and construct plans and strategies to improve talent management and drive the culture within the organization.

You’ll be pushing at an open door for making a culture that everyone loves to be a part of and building on some great foundations but with plenty of scope to take it all to the next level.

The person we are looking for will have a wealth of experience to draw from in managing a diverse workforce and will have experience in having led the people to function previously. As important are the softer skills and EQ to make sure our client creates an awesome place to work and attract the right people.

You will be a member of the HR Exec team steering the business more broadly, involved in planning and executing the growth of the business so will also need to be comfortable in the broader business issues.

The key skills and personal qualities required of heads of talent are:

What is essential for any head of talent is that they have considerable experience and knowledge of HR, in particular the key areas of talent acquisition, wellness management and driving culture within an organisation.

  • An ability to translate and utilise the Business Strategy to formulate and drive the People agenda across the business
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Min 5 years in a senior Leadership role having been involved in strategy development
  • Min 5 years of experience in managing a team with a strong understanding of talent acquisition, management and development
  • A keen interest in Leadership and the growth and development of People
  • Proven ability to develop and execute the People strategy
  • Brilliant at influencing employees at all levels to support your strategies
  • Ability to be strategic and tactical when making decisions
  • Great interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Analytical and able to interpret data
  • Familiar with performance management and relevant software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organisational skills - personal efficiency, time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Communication skills - you will be managing diverse personalities and viewpoints. Consequently, emotional intelligence, the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others is vital
  • Commercial acumen - You will be involved in strategic decision-making within the business. Being able to understand company finances, resourcing and the aim of the business is important

Key Role Responsibilities

  • As a senior member of the executive team, you will be expected to demonstrate and lead on the values, initiatives and culture of the organisation
  • As a member of the executive team, you will be steering the broad business along with your leaders from other departments. You will become a trusted confidante on talent and culture issues, unafraid of giving your opinions and expertise
  • Identifying an organisation’s needs and working to create and implement efficient talent acquisition, Wellness and Culture strategies to improve recruitment and business performance
  • Identifying and implementing Competitive Reward & Recognition Strategies
  • Identifying and implementing an Employee brand positioning strategy
  • Managing a highly skilled team to assist with Leadership and talent development
  • Planning regular employee performance reviews and feeding back to the business
  • Developing and implementing employee retention programmes or strategies
  • Understanding workforce planning and resource forecasting
  • Developing effective strategies for identifying skills gaps within the workforce
  • Succession Planning
  • Understanding the current recruitment trends and your organisation’s markets to identify the impact upon the business
  • Anticipating the organisations future and working with senior executives to advise on recruiting tactics that will help to sustain the company’s success
  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract diverse candidates to all areas of the business
