POSITION INFO:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• National Dipl in Nature Conservation, Higher Diploma in Veld and Game Management, FGASA qualification and SKS (dangerous game) or similar relevant qualifications
• Professional Hunter and relevant experience
• Relevant experience in wildlife and game reserve industry
• Specialisaton in development and management of game reserves or farming activities eg game capture and counts, breeding, wildlife reintroduction, culling, anti-poaching and security, feeding strategies and water management
• Passion for wildlife and nature
• Good solid management and administrative skills to cost, manage and implement projects on the farm e.g. road and fence management, breeding of buffalo, management of game feed, water management etc
• 5-10 years farm management experience
• General farm management and maintenance including
  • Veld and game management
    • Development of strategy & processes
    • Monthly reporting on implementation
  • Game capture and counts, breeding, wildlife reintroduction, culling and feeding strategies
    • Development of strategy and processes
    • Monthly reporting on implementation
  • Bush clearing strategy, management and reporting
  • Farm and lodge security processes and management
    • Management of security in line with K9 Security Systems in terms of monitoring and implementation
  • Farm and lodge fire fighting and fire management
    • Management teams in terms of monitoring and implementation
    • Implementation of fire protocols and training
  • Road maintenance
    • Road inspections (farm and lodge)
    • Bridge inspections and maintenance
    • Maintenance of the road network on both farms
  • Fence maintenance
    • Fence inspection and management
  • Water management
    • Management of boreholes
    • Pump maintenance and watering holes
  • Vehicle management
    • Service plans, basic assistance with issues and management
    • Diesel management (Farm and Lodge , monitoring and billing out of usage)
  • Farm Facilities & Activities
    • Setting up, develop protocols and managing a clay pigeon range to be used by the lodge and by hunting groups
    • Archery range set up, protocols determined and management
    • Setting up and maintenance of walking and cycling trails
    • Maintaining existing and identification of new picnic areas, camping facilities and sunset spots
  • Game Breeding
    • Management of buffalo breeding camp and feeding program implementation
    • Management of Sable breeding program development
    • Management of Nyala breeding program development
    • Catalogue of all breeding game, photo’s and bloodline management
    • Game count and assess if and where overstocked and development of culling or movement of animals
  • Produce Management 
    • Management of goat breeding and cheese production & distribution
    • Mangement of chickens and egg production and distribution
    • Venison & Beef meat production facility to be set up in existing butchery
    • Production of biltong, dry wors and other meat supplies
    • Firewood production
    • Distribution and administration management of produce to lodges
  • Administration
    • Keeping all certification, licenses and permits (National and Provincial) required up to date and in order
    • Development of overall farm management plan covering all of the above with costings
    • Weekly/Monthly reporting and basic account management
    • Weekly status meetings
  • Special Projects
    • Work with shareholders on special projects e.g campouts, building programs, delegation assistance where briefed and necessary
    • Management and administration management of special projects
  • Hunting Operation
    • Provide assistance in developing and growing the hunting operation.
    • Set up and management of hunting operation
    • Development of hunting packages and marketing opportunities
    • Competitor analysis
    • Website and on-line marketing
    • Management and hosting of hunting groups
    • Booking management and administration of hunting groups
    • Skinning, meat and trophy preparation
