SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading textile manufacturer is seeking an experienced Factory Manager to join their team at their factory in Atlantis.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee the manufacturing and distribution function, ensuring that monthly operational targets (production and distribution) are met.

As the key member of the leadership team, you will foster an environment of continuous improvement of workplace skills across all levels of the factory and warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Responsible for quality control, from quality of input raw material to quality of finished products - in accordance with current set quality standards
  • Ensure that monthly production and distribution targets are met
  • Accurate and timely production and warehouse performance reporting
  • Identifying problem areas and ensuring proper root cause analysis to prevent repeat occurrences
  • Establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that inventory management is accurate and maximised
  • Management and controlling of budgets and payment requisitions as well as implementing cost saving initiatives
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners to find appropriate resolutions
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement preventative measures to reduce or eliminate recurring complaints
  • Ensuring machines and equipment are safe and in line with legal requirements
  • Implement production efficiency interventions, redesign plant processes and systems to improve and streamline operational activity output at the right quality
  • Set and maintain targets through robust systems and management
  • Executing the production plan through understanding of sales forecast and plant performance and ensure availability of all resources to meet the demand
  • Ensure rejected product / non-conformance is rectified as high priority and that customer expectations are managed
  • Ensure accurate forecasting of all required critical equipment and raw material in adhering to the approved operational budget
  • Ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to and implement corrective actions arising from safety incidents
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure that effective cost control processes are in place and followed
  • Develop and lead a high-performance factory and warehouse team
  • Identify needs, prioritise, develop, and implement activities to ensure that manufacturing and distribution is supporting and contributing to the goals and objectives of the business
  • Oversee staff resource allocation across operations to minimise labour costs
  • Provides timely and accurate feedback on performance reviews and disciplinary problems
  • Talent Identification and succession planning in line with applicable guidelines
  • Nurture a culture where all employees are committed to continually improving people and processes

 

Requirements

  • Valid Code 08 drivers license
  • A tertiary qualification in Production and/or Business Management
  • 5 - 10 years'' experience in a textile manufacturing environment of which 5 years must be in a managerial role
  • Good understanding of the operational and technical aspects of the plant is essential
  • Technical understanding of textile compositions
  • Knowledge of cost accounting would be advantageous
  • Proven experience implementing business strategies applicable to manufacturing and distribution
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Sound knowledge of industry-specific factory equipment or technical expertise
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislation
