The Fibre Technicianâs job involves various tasks from large to multi-storey office buildings to small housing buildings.
The primary functions of the Fibre Technician include:
- Resolve, repair and install fibre optics systems and ensure that they work properly.
- Examine and replace faulty and old fibre optic cables and also organize scheduled maintenance routines.
- Take care of fibre splicing and rectify fibre optic problem areas.
- Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements.
- Formulate and maintain system records and system designs.
- Civils, including trenching soil, tar, cement and reinstatement thereof.
- Manage a team of splicing technicians and civils labourers.
- Report daily on progress.
- Computer literate.
- Smartphone literate.
- Manage WhatsApp groups.
- Civils â Installing manholes, moving of manholes.
- Splicing of domes, joints, etc.
- Floating of fibre.
- Drivers licence.
- Good communication skills. Professional client relations skills.
