Field Guide

SUMMARY:
Boutique Game Lodge offering a unique experience in a relaxing holiday atmosphere based Greater Kruger (Hoedspruit area) is looking for a Field Guide.
 
The guide plays a pivotal role in the success of a lodge operation, as they engage extensively with guests throughout a significant part of each day.
 
A candidate coupled with a Lodge Manager are welcome to apply.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

Host guests on game drives, bush walks and other activities.
Interpret the elements of nature and wildlife for their guests.
Lead game drives, bush walks and other activities
Ensure the safety of guests during all safari activities.
Answer questions and engage in informative discussions about the wildlife and surrounds.
Conduct routine daily checks of your vehicle and equipment
Ensure your vehicle has all the relevant equipment as required by the SOP checklist and that the equipment is in working order.
Sensitive to the environment and avoid off-road driving
Always Comply with the Game Driving Protocol.
Prepared to handle emergency situations and provide first aid
Able to deal with problem animal control
Assist with guest luggage.
Assist with guest pick-up and drop-off
Assist with staff transfers, as required.
Assist with camp maintenance and the workshop when requested to do so.

Requirements:

Grade 12
FGASA Qualification
Backup Trails. Lead Trails will be a bonus.
DEAT Registration
At least 2+ years’ experience as a Field Guide/Ranger in a Big Five Game Reserve
A valid first aid training certificate to handle trauma care.
A valid and current South African guide’s licence and valid PrDP special driver’s licence.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiar with basic vehicle
Good initiative to cope with difficult situations in a remote environment.
