Role Overview
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing compressed air equipment including electric and diesel driven rotary screw compressors and dryers. The position involves travelling to customer sites, conducting diagnostics, and advising clients on system performance and efficiency improvements. This is a field-based role that requires strong mechanical/electrical knowledge, a proactive mindset, and excellent customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, service and maintain electric and diesel rotary screw air compressors.
- Conduct diagnostics and failure analysis to identify root causes of breakdowns.
- Install and assist with equipment start-ups across multiple client locations.
- Advise clients on system optimisation, maintenance needs and upgrade recommendations.
- Maintain service vehicle and ensure it is fully equipped for field work.
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation for each job.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics and technical drawings.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Mechanical, Electrical or Diesel trade certification OR solid hands-on experience in compressor servicing.
- Proven experience working on compressed air systems (electric and diesel units).
- Ability to travel to client sites and perform physical, hands-on technical tasks.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Sound planning and time management abilities.
