Field Supervisor - Seed production (9 month contract)

SUMMARY:

An established agrochemical manufacturer is seeking the above to plan and coordinate seed production activities with seed growers in order to meet the seed availability according to required quality standards, ensuring the efficient use of human resources, equipment and materials.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a tertiary degree in Agronomy
• SANSOR and Phytosanitary certification, and AVCASA accreditation will be an added advantage
• Must be proficient in MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
• Strong teamwork capability (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others) and excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be required
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be prepared to travel extensively
• Must be fluent in English

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Building strong grower network through grower selection and recruitment, and maintaining good relationships and trust.
• Using available data capturing platforms to gather accurate grower information and utilize for season preparation.
• Performing grower contracting according to the company seed grower agreement.
• Coordinating and supervising key agronomic activities from field selection, soil preparation, planting, weed control, insect control, disease control, fertilization and irrigation monitoring.
• Coordinating key processes, planting, detasseling, yield forecasting, harvesting and deliveries to processing plant.
• Leading HSE efforts according to ISO45001 standards, focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology.
• Ensuring compliance with ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
• Recording field data in Velocity platform, to manage productions activities effectively.
• Complying with SANSOR seed certification standards and requirements.
• Supporting operational improvement initiatives, driving best practices and cost savings.
• Utilizing the production systems to coordinate and manage production fields effectively.
• Increasing end-to-end operational efficiency and advance customer experience through continuous improvement initiatives.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
