Our client, a leader in the textile industry is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum academic requirement – CA(SA) qualification
- 3 years of experience in commerce with manufacturing, either during traineeship or post qualification
- PFMA exposure during traineeship or post qualification would be preferential but not essential
- Attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple reporting deadlines
- Excellent written work presentation skills – clear and understandable formats
- Excellent quality communication skills with individuals internal and external to the business
MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS
Management of the Finance function
- Manages the Finance function by developing and implementing appropriate systems, e.g. IT and internal auditing and procedures in line with overall organisational policy.
- Agrees performance objectives for departmental staff and monitors performance accordingly, providing coaching and support as required.
- Identifies areas for improvement in efficiency and makes recommendations to top management.
- Encourages and participates in management decision making as member of the management team.
- Co-ordinate the Group’s financial policies and procedures.
Budgeting/Financial Planning
- Sets budgeting procedures and parameters as reference for all HOD’s and provides guidance during the budgeting process.
- Collates departmental budgets and assists in the preparation draft and final budget.
- Conducts financial feasibility studies / cost analysis for new proposals, projects and infrastructures.
- Plans and sets up financial systems for the business units
Financial Reporting
- Monitors all financial activities against revenue and expenditure budgets, investigates trends/variances and makes recommendations accordingly.
- Prepares monthly management accounts, and quarterly financial reports for submission to Board.
- Prepares annual financial statements.
- Adheres to all statutory requirements and submits returns as required.
External/Internal Audits
- Managing the relationship with external auditors.
- Manage the control environment and implement appropriate systems and procedures.
- Make appropriate procedural, recording and reporting changes to deal with IFRS requirements.
Insurance
- Assesses liability and insurance cover required in terms of Organisation’s physical assets, possible eventualities concerning staff, third-party liabilities etc.
- Negotiates and recommends insurance portfolio for approval by management.
Payroll
- Oversees processing of Organisation’s payroll, including benefit payments, PAYE and other deductions, adherence to labour legislation requirements.
- Assesses liability and insurance cover required in terms of Organisation’s physical assets, possible eventualities concerning staff, third-party liabilities etc.
- Capex Management
- Responsible for preparation of all Capex authorisations including payback periods and post Capex audits.
- Responsible for the negotiation of terms with suppliers to ensure maximum cashflow benefit.
Legal Compliance
- Responsible for accurate tax(income and Vat) treatments and calculations.
- Responsible for accurate and timeous submission of all returns.
- Ensures compliance with PFMA.
Profit Improvement
- Responsible for the implementation of strategic projects being driven by Chief Financial Officer with respect to strategic plan.
- Interface with HOD’s to assist and in certain instances, manage projects required by them that will interface with Finance.
Successor – Chief Financial Officer
- Provide support role for Chief Financial Officer and ultimately be able to represent the Chief Financial Officer when required.
