POSITION INFO:

The organisation has a mandate to drive the promotion and use of space and cooperation in space-related activities. To achieve this mandate, the Agency fosters research in space science and technology, advances space engineering programmes, and supports the creation of an environment conducive to industrial development in space technologies within the framework of national government policy.

The following opportunity exists in the Space Science Directorate situated in Hermanus, Western Cape to be filled by an individual with the relevant skills, drive, competencies and qualifications. This position requires the incumbent to be situated in Hermanus.
Temporary Finance and Business Manager (3 months contract)

Reporting to the Acting CFO, the incumbent will execute and oversee all financial, SCM, administration and housekeeping matters for the Space Science programme and Hermanus facility and provide appropriate business assistance as required. This will include duties as follows:
• Provide oversight and management guidance to the Finance, SCM and Administration team
• Work closely with the Acting CFO to ensure financial compliance at all levels for the Hermanus Facility
• Execute and oversee all financial, SCM, administration and housekeeping matters for the Hermanus
Facility
• Prepare Management Accounts and other financial reporting to enable effective decision making
• Manage internal audits, mid-term budget and planning cycle

Requirements
• Western Cape based person
• Accountant with Management Skills
• A degree in Accountancy with 15 – 20 years’ experience in financial accounting
• Clean accounting record and credit check record
• At least 5 years people management experience
• Ability to utilise SAGE X3, ABSA online banking systems, and MS Teams
• Energetic, caring, confident with high standards
• Must be a team player
• Ability to work under pressure
• Advance skills in MS Office especially Excel
• Analytical skills to analyse business documents
• Report writing skills
• Very good communication skills
