Financial Accountant

POSITION INFO:
My client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team and support the delivery of world-class financial administration services.


This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ensuring compliance, driving efficiency, and supporting business growth while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.

This role is based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg East.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, POPIA).
• Prepare and sign off bank reconciliations, EFT authorisations, foreign payments, and petty cash reconciliations.
• Manage fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and capex approvals.
• Support the Financial Manager with problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to ISO standards and quality management systems.
• Monitor and analyse cost allocations with business unit managers.
• Participate in annual financial, VAT, and process audits.
• Implement proactive risk management and contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with SAICA/SAIPA Articles.
• 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in logistics or freight forwarding (non-negotiable)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local tax laws, and statutory compliance.
• Proficiency in SAP
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
