Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
Seeking a Financial Accountant for a Logistics and Transport Group.

POSITION INFO:
We are a leading player in the national transport and logistics sector, committed to efficiency and reliability in the movement of goods across South Africa. Our finance team is a critical business partner to our operations, providing the data and insights that keep our fleet moving. We are seeking a driven and meticulous Financial Accountant to ensure robust financial governance in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full Accounting Function: Manage daily accounting tasks, including processing invoices (rental/diesel), cashbook processing, and bank reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, trial balances, and assist with compiling annual financial statements.
• Compliance & Tax: Handle statutory returns (e.g., VAT and PAYE) and ensure full compliance with tax regulations.
• Audit Preparation: Prepare robust annual audit files and liaise with External Auditors.
• Operational Support: Provide ad hoc financial support and analysis to operational and management teams within the logistics environment.

• Education:
  • A BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent is essential.
• Experience:
  • Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (any accreditation is welcome).
  • Previous exposure to the logistics, transport, or freight-forwarding industry is highly advantageous.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, advanced MS Excel skills, and experience with accounting software are non-negotiable.
• Attributes: High energy levels, proactive problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work independently in a demanding environment.

• Core Accounting: Full function accounting, IFRS compliance, GL management, complex reconciliations, and fixed asset management.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of cost allocations related to freight, warehousing, and general transport activities.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with an integrated ERP/accounting system and advanced Excel skills are essential.
• Personal Attributes: Ability to manage tight deadlines, high integrity, and effective communication across departments.
