JOB SUMMARY:
A well established company based in Sandton is seeking a Financial Accountant to assist with the preparation of financial statements and overseeing of the company's budgeting, accounting, and forecasting activities.

A successful candidate should also be able to communicate productively with stakeholders, executives and top managers; as well as work effectively with various departments and in the finance team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:

Perform all accounting operations and ensure their compatibility with accounting principles and regulations
Collect and analyse financial data and ledgers
Calculate taxes and create tax returns, balance sheet, profit/loss statements and similar documentation
Manage budget and financial forecasts
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements
Support month-end and year-end close process
Assist external auditors during the audit prepare documentation for accounting control procedures
Prepare monthly reports
Keep corporate information confidential and develop safety measures and processes such as random database backups
Manage cash flow requirements
Prepare and maintain fixed asset registers
Supervise and sign off on creditors
Banking, and hedging - review bank recons, load payments, forex forecast and maintain banking relationships
Other related duties as necessary
Develop processes to optimise business plans and resolve cost-related issues
Treasury assistance
Group accounting
IFRS for SME’s

The Financial Accountant will also develop policies and procedures to enhance department processes; and provide detailed information on the company's performance, liquidity, solvency, and cash flows as well as analyse its financial position.

Financial Accountant requirements:

Bcom Accounting Degree
A minimum of +3 years experience as a financial accountant
Excellent knowledge of accounting, financial and business principles and procedures
Excellent knowledge of accounting software
Strong computation skills with close attention to detail
Good organisational skills
Works well under pressure
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets competency
Beneficial experience and qualifications:
- Professional certification (such as CPA or CMA);
- Articles
- CIMA;
- Experience with Netsuite is highly beneficial;
- Group accounting

Position is paying up to 35K CTC which includes medical aid and pension fund.
