Financial Accountant (Colorants / Manufacturing / Chemical / Industrial) – Johannesburg

R 500 000 to R 540 000 Per Annum (Including Benefits)

Global Manufacturing concern is seeking the expertise of a dynamic Financial Accountant to join their team.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for Financial Accounting, Accounts Receivables and month end closing for the site processes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Accounting/Business/Economic Degree and professional body qualifications
• At least 5 years working experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient with SAGE X3, SAP and HFM (Hyperion) (desirable)
• Demonstrated Advanced Excel, Word and Power Point presentation
• Ability to work with limited resources & minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills in providing financial accounting services
• Demonstrated understanding of inter-departmental needs in financial areas to meet company’s objectives
• Proven analytical and pragmatic skills
• Strong capabilities in processes, improvements and measurements
• Ability to multitask and meet tight reporting deadline locally and to overseas for consolidation
• Good knowledge of fixed asset management, and standard costings in SAP
• Sound understanding of various taxes in South Africa – corporate taxes & GST and import & export compliance requirement. Familiar with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
• Technical Accounting, Tax and Corporate Law knowledge

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain records of financial operating performance for comparison with estimated budgets and the integrity of the SAGE X3 and SAP FI/CO/PCA modules
• Prepare income and balance sheet statements and prepare and consolidate other accounting statements and reports as required monthly, quarterly and annually for internal and external reporting requirement
• Prepare all management and financial reports including sales, profit and loss, bank account reconciliation, balance sheet and reconciliation of capital additions, creditors and debtors summaries and general ledger accounts
• Analyze financial reports and records, and make studies or recommendations relating to accounting for reserves, assets and other significant financial factors
• Monthly reconciliation of all Balance Sheet items to ensure that all accounts are properly accounted for and in order with no unusual entries
• Ensure activities comply with legal, professional and ethical standards
• Conduct special studies as required; develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures
• Participate in the modification of reporting formats and schedules of accounts in accordance with company policy
• Maintain and update project system, fixed asset register and participate in the preparation of capital expenditure reports and budgets as delegated
• Participate in the preparation of financial data (Taxation Return, Fringe Benefit Tax, GST, etc) required for submission to the South Africa Revenue Service, and other returns to the Bureau of Statistics as required
• Oversee the collection from debtors received in bank account are posted and allocated to correct debtors accounts to match with outstanding invoices as well as liaising with customers for payment advice details if there is discrepancy to resolve expediently
• Review, approve and control customer credit limit are adhered to and operate within company policy in compliance with proper authorization are being observed & conduct credit check where necessary
• Review monthly Petty Cash reporting and verify cash count process
• Assist management in annual budgeting process
• Assist to prepare the consolidate statutory group account
• Assist in other relevant tasks and ad-hoc projects as assigned
• Assist in month end close to meet tight reporting deadline to Regional & Global Finance Team
• Ensuring that proper accounting and system practices are followed
• Assist in all monthly, quarterly, annual closings & associated reporting
• Assist in local auditing, tax, legal and statutory compliance function
• Hands-on with transactional and journal postings in SAGE X3 / SAP System
• Assist in Reporting Pack and Monthly Management Report with Commentary
