Financial Controller

SUMMARY:
An international company is establishing its transactional finance hub in South Africa, and they’re looking for a Financial Controller to take the lead. This is not a “keep the lights on” role, it’s a rare opportunity to build a finance team from the ground up, implement world-class processes, and become the local anchor for a global operation.
Reporting directly to the finance team overseas, you’ll have the autonomy to set strategy, lead people, and design a best-in-class finance function here on home soil. If you’re a qualified CA(SA) or CIMA with proven experience in setting up new finance teams and driving structure where none exists, this is the platform to make your mark.

POSITION INFO:

As the Financial Controller, your duties and responsibilities include the following:
Partner with the UK-based Management Accounts Team to support month-end close, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of AR and AP ledger activities
Review and approve AP and AR general ledger data, enabling the closure of books by working day 4.
Prepare the South African Management Accounts
Deliver overhead analysis across all Group entities in both the UK and South Africa
Oversee all local cash management controls, including approval and processing of SA payroll, managing inward funds from the UK, and executing supplier payments in collaboration with the Treasury Team
Lead, develop, and motivate the Finance Transactional Team
Maintain strong internal controls, reduce financial risk, and ensure adherence to departmental processes at all times
Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, enhancing efficiency and scalability within the finance function

Skills & Experience:
5-7 years of experience in a similar role
International exposure would be highly advantageous
Experience working with transfer pricing and international tax
Excellent communication skills

Qualification:
Qualified CA(SA) or CIMA
