Financial Controller

SUMMARY:
Purpose of the Position
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial activities within a hospitality establishment. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, cost control, and effective financial planning to support the profitability and operational success of the business.
 
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management

• Oversee the daily financial operations of the establishment.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial transactions.
• Ensure accurate accounting records and financial systems are maintained.

• Develop and manage operational budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor departmental expenditure and financial performance.
• Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to management.

• Monitor food, beverage, labour, and operational costs.
• Identify areas for cost reduction and improved profitability.
• Ensure effective stock and inventory control procedures are implemented.

• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Oversee payroll administration and statutory deductions.
• Ensure supplier payments and invoicing are processed accurately.

• Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.
• Prepare financial records for internal and external audits.
• Maintain accurate documentation and financial controls.

• Prepare financial reports for senior management.
• Present financial performance analyses and recommendations.
• Assist management with strategic financial planning.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g. SAICA, CIMA, ACCA) advantageous.

• 5–7 years’ experience in accounting or financial management.
• Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
