Financial Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client has an urgent vacancy available for a Financial Manager to join their team based in Bedfordview. This role will entail full Financial Management for a group of companies.

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure that the company’s financial practices and records are in line with the statutory requirements and legislature
• Update and implement financial policies and procedures
• Introduce internal processes to mitigate the financial risk
• Assist in identifying software programmes for use in the various entities
• Liaise with CEO to provide financial information/ schedules required
• Ensure that all property transactions are correctly recorded in the books
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of the Fixed Asset register
• Supervise financial assistants with the facilitation of day-to-day operations including assistance with complex reconciliations
• Assist the Municipal Manager to identify problems and queries with the municipal accounts and monitor the resolution thereof
• Assist in the calculation of Operations Costs and/or split of utility bills for the buildings where there is more than one tenant.
• Ensuring that new leases are correctly recorded and invoiced and that utilities are charged correctly
• Review schedules prepared of monthly municipal expenses for variances
• Release of daily COD, and weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payments 14. Monitoring of cash flow and ensuring sufficient funding for the various bank accounts.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with the company’s service providers, banking institutions and auditors
• Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Accounts, Mortgage Bonds, and monthly Vat and Statutory submissions
• Assisting with annual budgeting
• Review monthly reports for accommodation/ hospitality entities
• Institute monthly reporting to the CEO for property division
• Preparation of working papers for the annual audit and developing a relationship with external auditors to facilitate the audit
• Checking fortnightly and monthly payrolls for all entities
• Identify and interview candidates for finance department positions
• Chair the EE committee and training committees
• Assist with the election of new members of the EE Committee
• Ensure that all submissions for EE, WCA, Skills are submitted timeously
• Assist with information to facilitate the preparation, review of the tax affairs of the company in conjunction with the external tax consultants
• Assist with the preparation and arrange Social and Ethics committee meetings
• Any other Ad Hoc financial requirements

Skills and Qualification

• Accounting qualification with either CA(SA) qualification or MBA/ MBL
• 10 Years’ experience in a commercial entity/ies
• Strong leadership skills with an ability to communicate and manage staff at all levels
• Ability to lead by example
• Excellent mathematical and reconciliation skills

• Thorough understanding of business practices and in particular the VAT act as applies to property entities
