POSITION INFO:

FINANCIAL MANAGER

BCOM ACCOUNTING OR CA(SA)

The successful candidate will be required to maintain an effective and professional credit control and financial system for maintaining the financial health of an organization..  Ensure that company works within all legal requirements, producing financial reports and develop strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of the organization.

Competencies:

Must have a high level of integrity and ensure confidentiality at all times.

• Develop trends and projections for the firm’s finances.
• Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
• Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.
• Liaise with auditors.
• Co-ordinate staff.
• Financial experience and be able to obtain required information to assist in the effective running of the company finances.
• Computer literate – MS Office & Pastel a requirement.
• Accuracy and high attention to detail.
• Able to take initiative, identify and resolve problems.
• Interpersonal and communication skills essential.

Requirements

• Experience as a Financial Manager an advantage.
• Experience in the financial sector with previous possible roles such as financial analyst.
• Proficient user of finance software, experience in Pastel Payroll.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
• BCom Accounting qualification or CA(SA)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Risk Management:

• Providing financial reports and interpreting financial information to management while recommending further courses of action.
• Develop trends and projections for the firm’s finances.
• Ensure adequate reports are available.

Operations

• Co-ordinate strategies for premium collection.
• Monitor implementation of collection policies and procedures and FSCA regulations.
• Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, and forecasts the organization''s financial position, management account, and analyses of future earnings or expenses.
• Monitor various reports and relay information to shareholders.
• Ensure monthly financial payments – creditors.
• Payroll administration.
• Bank reconciliation.
• Premium bank reconciliations and payment instructions.
• Monthly reports to Insurer.
• Brokers commission to be paid and controlled.
• Control HR requirements as well as payroll activities plus filing.
• Ensure claims are paid.
• Co-ordinating with the external auditors and handle audits and audit queries.
• Monitor financial details to ensure that legal requirements are met.
• Supervise employees in the financial department.
• Review company financial reports and seek ways to reduce costs.
• Help management make financial decisions.
• Control company documents and share certificates.

• Daily reporting.
• Monitoring cash flow.
• Maintain Asset register.
• Prepare & Submit Monthly VAT & PAYE returns.
• Prepare Financial system for external audit

Being an Engineering Underwriting Management Company they were founded in 2008 by the current Managing Director, who is still actively involved in the Engineering company as well as the PI and Liability and Commercial companies which joined the fold in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
