JOB SUMMARY:
A highly respected medial scheme company is searching for a Senior Finance Manager CA(SA) to join their ranks to provide leadership and management of various financial functions to mitigate financial risks for the scheme. A big part of this position is to manage the finance portfolio to achieve the company’s business objective. IFRS 17 in this particular case is non-negotiable, as is extensive people management experience.

My client is a well-renowned medical scheme company with a strong focus on the best-in-class products as well as exceptional customer service. Applicants must be a CA(SA) with a minimum of 4 years’ managerial experience with a solid understanding of IFRS 17.

As Senior Financial Manager you will be responsible for:

Ensure all financial reports are compiled according to set CMS, SAICA and IFRS prescripts
Ensure optimal functioning of the financial systems
Oversee and manage the drafting, implementation and monitoring of all financial policies and processes
Monitor and report on financial matters to relevant internal parties and governing bodies
Manage the overall budgeting process, compile budgets, monitor variances and report to relevant parties
Liaise with and coordinate the activities of the internal and external auditors
Compile reports for Audit and Risk Committee meetings and participate in these meetings
Compile reports for Investment Committee meetings and participate in these meetings
Compile all relevant reports for the Board of Trustees’ meetings
Ensure that investment yields are in line with the Scheme’s objectives
Responsible for cash flow planning and management, including short-term investments of the Scheme
Oversee and manage processes and policies related to physical asset management
Financial Reporting, General Finance & Logistics
Financial Business Analysis
Analyse internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement
Monitor performance by tracking results, determining corrective measures as needed, and preparing detailed reports for both current and future scenarios
Compile risk registers for all areas, ensure significant risks are escalated to appropriate registers, and monitor efficacy of controls
Ensure adherence to all legislative and regulatory prescripts.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Registered as a CA(SA), including 5 years in a managerial position
IFRS 17 Non-Negotiable
SAICA Medical Schemes Accounting Guide knowledge
People management and leadership skills
Medical Scheme, Insurance or Financial services industry experience advantageous
