Financial Manager FMCG

SUMMARY:

A well-established manufacturer of animal feed is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to apply strategic financial management, ensuring profitability while maintaining and developing financial policies and procedures and providing reliable and complete financial reports.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BCom Degree in Accounting
• Completed articles will be an advantage
• 5 to 7 years post graduate experience within a manufacturing environment and exposure to formal retail clients within the FMCG industry are essential
• Must have working knowledge of cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of financial systems (IFRS, SAP, SAGE, VAT, SARS) will be required
• Previous exposure to all financial management techniques and principles is exposure

• Developing, implementing and maintaining proper accounting systems that enhances efficiencies.
• As part of senior management team providing guidance and input into all operational and strategic aspects of the business.
• Ensuring financial profitability is achieved and maintained through strategic initiatives.
• Ensuring adherence to company delegation of authority (DoA).
• Optimising financial process analysis.
• Optimising and safeguarding utilisation of company assets and allocation thereof.
• Optimising stock levels and stock control.
• Defining and implementing financial best practices.
• Managing expenses and margins, evaluating and taking corrective action against deviations.
• Reviewing and analysing weekly management accounts.
• Conducting production and yield analysis.
• Reviewing sales and purchases analysis.
• Performing direct cost reporting.
• Analysing overheads, production and product costs.   
• Ensuring financial policies and DoA are maintained according to required standards and financial best practices are adhered to.
• Providing comprehensive financial reporting.   
• Preparing monthly flash and updated flash reports as well as monthly FD confirmations
• Preparing the annual budget.
• Updating monthly loan schedules with weekly updates to Management.
• Reporting to board on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Comparing monthly reports to weekly reports and providing explanation for variances.
• Comparing monthly reports to budget and providing explanation to variances.
• Ensuring accurate and timeous reporting of financial results to management.
• Reviewing monthly reconciliations.
• Obtaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reviewing for accuracy and reconciling items.
• Reviewing group bank account reconciliations.
• Ensuring all reconciling items are cleared within reasonable time.
• Managing Key performance areas and monitoring performance standards.
• Identifying training and development requirements and providing support to achieve targets.
• Developing and implementing a financial training program.
• Providing procedural and fair disciplinary action to address deviations.
