SUMMARY:
Our client, a reputable multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking a Fire Engineer to join their growing Fire Engineering team. The role involves delivering performance-based fire engineering solutions, fire protection system design, and regulatory compliance support across commercial, industrial, and specialist risk projects.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

Fire Rational Designs (performance-based design in accordance with BS 7974)
Preparation of Deemed-to-Satisfy fire plans aligned with SANS 10400 requirements
Design of wet and dry fire suppression systems in accordance with ASIB, SANS, NFPA, and FM Global standards
Fire engineering input for special risk facilities (transformers, Li-BESS, industrial applications)
Smoke ventilation system design in accordance with EN 12101
Fire risk assessments and fire compliance audits
Project involvement across ECSA Stages 1–6
Technical reporting, coordination, and site support

Skills & Experience:

Minimum 3–5 years’ fire engineering experience within a consulting environment
Strong understanding of SANS fire standards and National Building Regulations
Experience with performance-based fire engineering methodologies
Exposure to suppression systems, smoke control design, and compliance assessments
Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills

Qualification:

BTech / BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering, or related discipline
ECSA registration or progressing toward professional registration advantageous
