Fire Engineer

SUMMARY:
Are you familiar with local and international Fire codes and standards? Here is an opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer to join a Consulting firm in Cape Town working on exciting local and international projects.

POSITION INFO:

Consulting with authorities to discuss safety regulations and recommended deviations as necessary for projects

Preparing tender documents and specifications for various fire protection systems and reports

Financial management of contracts, fee proposals, invoicing, etc

Responsible for fee proposals, time management, resource management

Management responsibilities such as revenue forecasts, bidding and winning new projects, client liason, etc

Consulting and Project management for all fire safety and fire system design for assigned projects

Writing reports detailing rational designs

Assisting Junior Engineers with technical designs

Designing fire detection, sprinkler systems, gas suppression systems, smoke control systems, etc

Reviewing drawings from BIM team in 2D and 3D platforms

Skills & Experience:  

Knowledge and experience in all local fire safety codes, SANS 10400, ASIB, etc

Knowledge and experience in other international codes, BS 9999, NFPA 101, BS 7974, IFEG, etc

Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems

Must have experience in Consulting Engineering industry, particularly Fire Engineering

Logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to a problem

Must have excellent time management capabilities

Conducting Site Inspections

Experience in Quality control analysis

CAD skills experience on Pyrosim, Pathfinder, Canute and other similar softwares

Ability to negotiate prospective contracts

Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ Fire Engineering experience

Qualification:

BSc/BEng/BTech Mechanical Engineering

Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng / Pr. Tech. Eng)

Valid Driver’s license

Willing to travel nationally and internationally

Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
