POSITION INFO:

The company is looking for a Fitter and Turner to join their Maintenance Workshop in Mega Park Bellville South. The suitable candidate will ultimately be responsible for the servicing, repairs and maintenance of all machinery in the factory and will report directly to both the Maintenance Manager and the Factory Manager.

The roles, responsibilities and duties of this position will include but not limited to; 

• Attend to all mechanical faults / breakdowns on equipment.
• To deal urgently with all factory breakdowns in order to minimize production down time.
• Responsible for troubleshooting and providing a service to production to minimize delays due to machine breakdowns.
• Required to recommend the need to replace / repair equipment or spares.
• To formulate a maintenance schedule for all factory equipment to ensure planned maintenance is properly carried out timeously in line with machine manufacturers’ recommendations.
• To carry out planned maintenance on all factory equipment - adhering strictly to the maintenance schedule.
• To ensure that adequate stock levels are kept of key machine maintenance parts.
• Ensure that all maintenance work is completed fully, any temporary fixes that may be necessary from time to time must be fully fixed at the earliest possible opportunity.
• Responsible for training and mentoring apprentices
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment- Working or operating under safe work procedures whilst maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly workplace.
• Health & Safety inspections conducted, and forms completed.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of project work.
• Assist with Capital Projects ensuring that relevant installations are actioned.
• Operate within applicable Health & Safety requirements.
• Effective liaison with Production Departments and other internal customers and suppliers.

The requirements and skills required for this position are.

• Matric /Grade 12 with a NTC3 Mechanical Engineering- Qualified Fitter and Turner with minimum 5 years post-trade test work experience in maintenance and manufacturing environment preferably in Plastic Extrusion industry

Knowledge, skills, and competencies : -

• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures that apply the mechanical infrastructure
• Technical aptitude - able to fault find and repair breakdowns
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and preventative action- Ability to follow clear instructions follow a planned maintenance procedure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills English & Afrikaans
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Systematic, neat & methodical
• Analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
