Duties and responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- Tracking and Monitoring of vehicles.
- Fuel consumption calculations.
- Briefing and debriefing of drivers.
- Daily reports on driver behavior including disciplinary action.
- Processing of load information.
- Processing of driver documentation.
- Managing Breakdowns.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- Management Reports.
- Logistics control and management of drivers throughout the entire delivery process, ensuring deadlines / time frames / delivery standards are adhered to in line with the Company operating procedures;
- Ensuring that constant contact and communication is maintained at all times with the client, the driver and the delivery point / client’s customer, are effective and clear;
- Continuous communication, support and guidance to the driver, in ensuring the delivery is conducted to the customer / client’s highest satisfaction and in line with the delivery requirements;
- Marketing of the delivery routes to engage new customers and ensuring the routes are occupied within the area that you operate / designated too;
- Ensuring that customer / client relationships are maintained to the highest satisfaction level at all times;
- Ensuring optimal execution of the daily route plan through live / integrated vehicle tracking for all vehicles against the operating plan;
- Addressing of all variances against plan with drivers and customers and escalation where appropriate to driver debrief;
- Constantly liaise with customers to optimize delivery schedules and lower the secondary distribution cost base through the reduction of turnaround time at the customer back door;
- Measure on time delivery and turnaround time and reporting of deviations at a customer level on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
- Off route stops – resulting in increased customer deliveries per day and fewer routes (driver contracted & to be included in debrief report);
- Off route travel – resulting in reduced vehicle KMs per trip (driver to be contacted and to be included in debrief report)
- Customer delays – resulting in increased customer deliveries per day & fewer routes (Customer & Driver to be contacted & to be included in customer delay report)
- Ensure that all vehicles routed are tracked (all deviations and errors on tracked vehicles to be explained daily)
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/ Matric
- In-depth knowledge of the operating and legislative requirements of a transport and logistics industry;
- Degree/ Diploma in Logistics/ Stock Control – advantageous;
- At least 2 – 3 years similar controlling or industry related experience
- Excellent administration, verbal and written communication skills required;
- Transport and Quality Control Knowledge;
- Resilient and enthusiastic;
- Self-motivated and self-managed;
- Valid Driver’s License (code 14 will be advantageous) & own reliable transport;
- Computer literate: MS Office package;
