Fleet Manager

SUMMARY:
responsible for the selection of appropriate vehicles, maintaining them, and making sure that they are in good shape to carry out their functions.

POSITION INFO:

Job Objectives

• Ensuring fleet risk is minimized and insurance requirements maintained
• Handle continuous fleet improvements in cost saving, lead-time reduction and general logistics
• Manage Driver Performance - fuel consumption, vehicle turnaround time, vehicle utilization, vehicle cleanliness, scores, ensure improvements and driver development, manage and schedule driver training where need
• Manage the capital expenditure process with regard to vehicle purchases and vehicle deflecting
• Ensure detailed service and inspection records maintained
• Tyre Management
• Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed
• Managing vehicle licenses and registration
• Maintain excellent communication with all relevant departments
• Constant monitoring of driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service. 
• Analyzing vehicle data (kilometers travelled, fuel usage etc.) to increase business operational efficiency.
• Identifying concerning patterns and implement corrective actions
• Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
• Manage relationship with 3rd party vehicle tracking providers.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures relating to all aspects of the fleet incl. but not limited to branding, vehicle appearance, servicing, fuel usage, private usage, actions in the event of theft of hijacking, etc.
• Traffic fine management of all outstanding fines, ensure timely payment thereof and ensure correct deductions from vehicle drivers.
• Checking Fleet vehicle inspections are complete and if there are concerns raised.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain / Transport would be advantageous
• 2-5 years+ fleet management experience (100+ vehicles)

• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
• Proven experience of supervising people and performance
