Food Safety and Quality Manager - Brackenfell, Cape Town

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Food and Safety Manager within the confectionery industry Responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of the quality and food safety requirements of the operation.

POSITION INFO:

Job Specifications;

In line with the requirements of national regulations and  ISO22000 standards

Ensure adherence to internal quality and food safety policies, goals and standards, and external quality in food safety legislation

Responsible for research and development of new products

Food Safety Management System (FSMS) implementation, administration, audits, continual improvements

Ensure compliance with national standards and customer requirements

Set goals and objectives for the improvement of the FSMS

Identify and implement a globally recognised food safety system

Ensure inspections are conducted as per frequency stipulated on the procedure

Ensure compliance with customer and own specifications

Implement and manage the supplier 

Ensure that FSMS changes are communicated to the relevant internal parties

Manage the recall system and ensure annual mock recall is conducted
 
Coordinate external and supplier audits

Ensure the annual food safety audit is conducted before the expiry of the certificate

Liaise with client and certification body on corrective action plan regarding audit findings
 
Management of laboratory, control, and handling of non-conforming products

Implement testing schedule

Conduct monthly sampling and testing as per the schedule

Conduct investigations on out of specification results

Ensure investigation of non-conformities and implementation of corrective action

Monitoring and trend non-conformances

Investigate and implement corrective action for customer complaints

Monitoring and trending of customer complaints
 
Training on quality and food safety requirements

Ensure annual training on food safety practices is conducted

Ensure annual training on quality measures is conducted
 
Research and development

Liaise with the client regarding product concepts

Develop the product recipe

Develop the product specification

Ensure product label information is compliant with national regulations

Ensure the correct information is supplied to the client

Conduct factory trials

Monitor first production run
 
Communicate recipe and specification changes internally and externally with client
 

Minimum Requirements;

Grade 12 

Diploma or Degree in Food Technology

Must be available to commence work in mid-July!!

Minimum of 8 years working experience within a similar context

Confectionery experience
