POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Assist with preparation and production of meals as per recipes provided with the highest level of care and a focus on sound hygiene and quality practices. To ensure that quality standards are maintained at all times and in line with the relevant food, health and safety requirements/legislation

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Quality food preparation and output for functions and day to day catering needs.
• Stock Administration.
• Compliance to food safety and health and safety requirements
• Work with Chef and/or cook in meeting food preparation requirements based on recipe and menu.
• Provide support on quality food preparation and output relevant to catering events.
• Effective maintenance of crockery, cutlery and food serving equipment
• Customer Service

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of food, health and safety requirements
• Knowledge and understanding of FIFO principles (stock rotation) and date coding
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, compliance to HACCP standards and other relevant food, health and safety requirements
• Knowledge of cleaning materials
• Knowledge and understanding of menu, prices and specials

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 8 – 12 or relevant qualification in hospitality services
• 12 – 18 months relevant experience in a catering and hospitality environment
