SUMMARY:
Supports the Head of Buying in making decisions about what merchandise to buy based on sales analysis, in season forecasts; market trends and customer needs based on buyer personas. 

Potential candidates must have experience in the furniture industry.

POSITION INFO:
Job Resposibilities:

Sales Planning & Forecasts (Internal):

  • Manage the OTB sales and inventory at product/supplier level and ensure that the merchandise targets will be met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Analyse historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities; compare sales data of the planned product/supplier level to company sales and provide action plans to reconcile deviations
  • Partner with the Merchants to actively manage inventory levels by increasing and decreasing inventory, and/or cancelling orders
  • On a monthly and quarterly basis, recap and report back on the sales and inventory results to plan, and LY, and forecast in-season sales and inventory
  • Review orders with in-store date 30 days out to identify any changes required. Prioritize key styles/categories for delivery. Ensure pre-allocations meet store/cluster targets
  • Maximize store performance through trend analytics and analyzing historical data, identifying opportunities, risks and provide recommended actions
  • Develop store sales, inventory plans, and both regional & store specific merchandise flow strategies
  • Maintain and report on size integrity analysis and adjust size curves by region and store groups
  • Manage reports of store counts, assortment levels and performance, proposing adjustments for lifecycle effectiveness
  • Create and adjust SKU selling recommendation rubric for merchandising
Trend Analysis, Seasonal Forecasts & market insights support (External):
  • Supports the Furniture Buyer, Home Décor Buyer and Innovation Consultant with research, collation, conceptualisation and presentation on seasonal trend, color, materials and global design themes & global customer interests
  • Work with the team to present a seasonal trend concept moodboards as well as must have items and seasonal key looks
  • Maintain a furniture trends folder per product category on file share to update images, videos, inspiration, and new supplier leads
Devising and presenting merchandising plan to Buyer/s:
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices, and develop systems knowledge
  • Work with the Home Décor Buyer Buyer/Merchandiser in communicating the furniture merchandise plan to the buyer, who can then decide what products, styles, colours etc. to purchase from which suppliers at what price
Supplier management:
  • Devising a contract for the suppliers, including quality control, accuracy, and flexibility, which is done throughout the season.
  • Maintaining effective supplier relations
  • Help identify new suppliers for the Head of Buying
  • Develop and maintain supplier database on Sharepoint
  • Manage all supplier mobile communication on the divisional mobile phone
Stock Management:
  • Allocating certain amounts of stock to each outlet throughout the season, to minimise unnecessary stock holdings for maximum budgetary
  • Once the products are distributed and put on sale, the retail planner can then monitor stock movement, consider markdowns, inter-branch transfers or promotions
Admin Support:
  • Forex and shipping cost negotiation support
  • Support and on the job training to the divisional assistant as required

Skill Requirements:
