We are seeking a suitably qualified Technician to join our Central Support Services – Engineering department based in Pinetown. This position reports directly to the ESD Engineering Supervisor. Candidates who meet the specified requirements are encouraged to apply.
Overview
The Technician will be responsible for executing all engineering activities and project operations within the KZN Region, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and legal requirements. This role demands a commitment to quality, safety, and effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the efficient operation of the ESD maintenance and projects department across the KZN Region, aligning with corporate policies and legal standards.
- Ensure high-quality workmanship for all on-site installations and maintenance tasks, including those undertaken by contractors.
- Maintain the highest safety standards by strictly adhering to EHS&Q protocols to minimise risks to personnel and property.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on maintenance activities, project progress, and safety matters.
- Support the implementation and management of safety protocols and departmental systems to guarantee compliance and operational efficiency.
Essential Requirements
- Matric certificate with Mathematics and Science.
- Completion of NTC 2 - 4 qualification or equivalent certification.
- Trade-Tested Artisan status, preferably as a Fitter or Millwright.
- SAQCC installer certification is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance within a heavy engineering or production environment, preferably in the Gas or related industry.
- Familiarity with ISO and SHERQ systems.
- Proven experience liaising with customers, suppliers and supervising contractors at various levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office Suite.
- Valid, unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
- Availability to be on standby during weekends and public holidays.
- Flexibility to travel extensively when necessary.
- Medically fit to perform tasks at heights.
